Actually I should have posted this 12 days ago but it is Friday. Seminary is over for the week, I have a few extra minutes this morning and so I have time to tell you about my David. He turned 26 on December 1st. Happy Birthday - this one's for you...

My world totally changed on December 1, 1982. David wasn't due until the 18th of December but on the morning of the 1st I went to the doctor for my usual checkup. He told me that the baby was ready and he was going to help it along a little (strip my membranes)- which would either put me into labor or do absolutely nothing.
So Lynn and I finished up our Christmas shopping that day. It was snowing so bad and had been for quite some time - we had a tractor at our house on standby just in case we were snowed in and couldn't get the car out to get to the hospital. It snowed again all that day. We got home in the mid afternoon because Lynn had to go milk the cows. He left around 3:00 pm I think and about 3:30 - 3:45 I got up from my nap to start wrapping the presents. About 4:00 my first pain hit with a vengance. I was a bit scared - being my first baby, being alone in the house, not knowing what to expect, and not knowing how long it would take. Finally about 6:00ish I called the barn and told Lynn that I thought he needed to come home because I was in labor and it was getting pretty bad. By the time he got home and got ready it was about 7:30 when we got to the hospital. At 11:22pm my little David Lynn was born. Oh happy day!
From the get-go David was a great baby. He started sleeping through the night at 1 month, started sucking his thumb at 6 weeks which made for a great baby! David was always so content and undemanding. He had the cutest curly hair. As he got older - as a toddler - I would leave his hair a little longer because I loved the curls.

David loved books - he would get as many as his little arms could carry at one time and come sit on my lap and we would read every single book and then he would go back for more. At a year and 18 months he was sitting for the better part of an hour while I would read to him. I loved that time with him.
He got to play the part of baby Jesus in our family Christmas pageant the year he was born.
Being my first, David - I'm sad to say - got the brunt of my practice at being a mother. I'm so grateful that he says he doesn't remember a lot of the things that I remember. He was so patient with me.
David was always a homebody. He would rather be at home than out with his friends. That was okay with me becaused I loved having my children close by. He loved the cows from a very early age. I was amazed as he grew the memory he had for knowing the pedigree of the cattle. He could look at a calf and tell you it's mother, grandmother, etc. His recall with the cows never ceased to amaze me. He was good with them. It was always his dream growing up to take over the dairy herd. A part of my heart hurts that he can't have that dream - under his watch it would have been a great herd!
David served a mission to Detroit Michigan and when he got home he married his sweetheart Jessica. They lived in Idaho for a time and then moved to Logan. Shortly after Lynn and I moved they moved back to Blackfoot. I'm grateful that they are close to family again.
Let's see - here are some things about David that I love:
- Watching a funny show with him because of the way he laughs :) You can't help but laugh with him. He reminds me of my dad!
- that he calls me every day and wants to talk (that is new since we moved away)
- that he is such a good husband and honors his priesthood and uses it to bless his family
- watching him with Clay and Brynlie. He is such a good daddy - he changes dirty diapers and everything!!!!!
- He works stupid hours - middle of the night things - so that Jessica can stay home with their babies
- The memory that I have of the way he used to sit on my lap and rub the diamond on my wedding ring while sucking his thumb because he was sad and that comforted him.
- hearing him say, I love you mom
- Coming to visit me in Montana
- The way he tries so hard to figure out what Heavenly Father wants him to do in life and the faith that he has that things will work out.
- I love that he first came to our family and that he is an awesome big brother
- His quiet obedience
- His smile
I could go on and on. David is an amazing person. I am blessed beyond measure because he is my son. I love him more than there are words to describe!
Thank you David for your gentleness, your tenderness, your teasing way, your words everyday that brighten my world, your faith, your obedience and your love. You truly are one of the finest people in this world and I love you.
Now some pictures for you to enjoy!

We love you!!!!!!
