Seminary Conference

Seminary Conference, March 20 & 21. It was awesome. For those who don't know about that – it is for the early morning Seminary kids – those away from Idaho and Utah and anywhere else that has release time Seminary. We take the kids away for a couple of days and just have fun. This year the conference was in Great Falls.

Friday night was the dance. That was an experience in itself. Boy how things have changed since I attended youth dances. Their form of dancing now-a-days is interesting at best! Our kids did great. They were the best dressed and best behaved of any. I was proud of the way they conducted themselves and how they represented Helena.

Saturday was all about Scripture Mastery and New Testament knowledge. We have been working so hard with the kids just to get them excited about Scripture mastery. It has been so long since Helena has been anything but last place that we set a goal to just not be last – just move up one ranking! We pumped them up the best we could before the competition began. Once they got started and realized that they were finding the scriptures and racking up the points they REALLY got into it and a couple of times had to be told not to make so much noise. It was so fun to see them so excited. We were still just hoping to not be last! After that was over we had the knowledge bowl – to test their knowledge of the New Testament – then the Senior bowl where the seniors raced to find all 100 scriptures from their four years in Seminary. Then came the testimony meeting which was awesome, then - as we sat in the chapel still – they announced the winner of the scriptures mastery competition. Low and behold HELENA TOOK FIRST PLACE – TOOK. FIRST. PLACE. And they announced it in the chapel so we couldn't even cheer! We figure that is the first time in over 10 years! WOOT WOOT for Helena Stake!! And one of our seniors took second in the senior bowl. Yep – we are GOOD! My freshman did awesome. Those are the moments I keep on teaching forJ

That is so cool! And hooray for taking FIRST!

I would love to be in your seminary class --and I should have said this on your other post, but you are an awesome teacher. Don't let small discouragements get in the way. If anything, I'm betting this seminary conference proved that you are doing AWESOME!

P.S. Thank you SO MUCH for your comment today. It has given me much to ponder!

Sounds like they are getting more out of your class than you realize. :) Congrats, it's nice to be rewarded for our efforts sometimes!
